We are a small village primary school with approximately 90 children who live in the village or nearby Pineham, Hunsbury Meadows, West Hunsbury and other local areas. We are a happy, friendly and caring school that prides itself on being at the heart of our local community. Our school hall is also the village hall, offering an environment unique to our local community. We fully embrace our school family, village and church; a place where a range of people and groups gather in the pleasure of learning and growing together.

Everyone is valued as an individual and helped to develop and progress in their own unique way within a Christian environment. The curriculum we offer is not merely academic, but embraces the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of all pupils. The development of good social, interpersonal skills and enthusiastic, but also thoughtful and caring attitudes in all our pupils is central in preparing our children for life in Britain and a global society.

Rothersthorpe is one of six village primary schools forming 'Innovate MAT'

Comments from our most recent Ofsted Report (Spring 2025):

  • 'This is a small school set in the heart of the local community'
  • 'Relationships are warm and kind.'
  • 'Staff have created a nurturing environment where pupils feel safe and important.'
  • 'There are high expectations of pupils’ behaviour and learning.'
  • 'Pupils follow an ambitious curriculum that emphasises preparing them for their future lives as global citizens.'
  • 'Parents are confident in the school. They appreciate how their children are kept safe, looked after well and make academic progress.'

We work hard to create worthwhile partnerships with all our parents as we recognise the importance of working together in unison if we are to maximise each child’s potential. To this end, we make lots of opportunities for parents to share and contribute to their child’s education whilst they are at our school.

Visits to our school are warmly welcomed.
