Shrove Tuesday 28th February 2017 - Pancake Day
- Shrove Tuesday falls 47 days before Easter Sunday and is the last day before the period which Christians call Lent.
- 'Shrove' comes from the word 'shrive' which means 'to confess'.
- Shrove Tuesday is a day of celebration as people indulge themselves on foods that traditionally weren't allowed during Lent. Pancakes are a good way of using up milk, eggs and flour.
- Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and last six and half weeks up until Easter Day.
